Adam and Eve were created souls, the life of the soul is the spirit of God, it belongs to God, it can not be destroyed or contaminated, to be in sin is to be separated from the perfection needed to have his spirit forever. Adam died age 930 and 70 years before his first perfect day, Adam and Eve became imperfect. Adam died in the day he sinned in.
All souls after Adam and Eve are born into imperfection Gen.6:3; in days of Moses, Num 16:22; they knew the life of their soul was the spirit of God, Psm.90:10; Moses fore told that old age would be 70 years, how true is this when Moses died 897 years after the flood, king David dies at age 70 as old age 1Ki.2:10,11; 1373 years after the flood, Acts 2:27-31; Christ and David, Now in 2006 C.E. and 4416 after the flood, it is the same for us.
The promised salvation for the souls born after Adam is a resurrection from the dead.
1Cor.15:22; AS IN ADAM ALL DIE EVEN SO IN CHRIST SHALL ALL BE MADE ALIVE.
2Cor.5:10; Heb.9:27; Acts 17:31; 24:15; John 5:22.26-29; Isa.26:19; Dan.12:2; Rom.14:9-12; Philip.2:5,9-12; Matt.12:36; John 12:47.48; Rev.20:1-6,12,13; The heavenly first resurrected are with God at his coming, Rev.3:12; the new heavens as the kingdom of the heavens comes down out of heaven from God, to resurrect the earthly for the new earth.

You are quite correct, and I am a Christian. I do however believe that Christ will return and raise His followers from the grave to eternal life. While the unbelievers and those who claim to be Christians will be raised to there get their reward as well, eternal death.
Yes, religion kills for they that claim "holy" "wars" in the name of their religion are murders.
Christ teaches Love and not war.

WRONG
Psa.23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the SHADOW of death, I will fear no evil: for
Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Flesh death of the body is a SHADOW of death, a silhouette or likeness of the second death.
Heb.9:27 And as it is appointed unto men ONCE to die, but after this the judgment:
If you are already dead why then after this the judgment?
Matt.10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather
fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Fear (revere) God Who can destroy both soul and spiritual body, that is second death.
I Cor.15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and
there is a spiritual body.
There is a flesh body and a spiritual body.
II Cor.5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: II Cor.5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) II Cor.5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Absent from the flesh body, present with the Lord.
Ecc.12:6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Ecc.12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it.
The spiritual body and soul return to God.
I Cor.15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall
have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory.
The second death is what Christ paid the price for. Until the mortal puts on immortality he is still considered dead or liable to die the second death.

I believe that dead is dead as well. However, I don't think religion kills until people get over-zealous.
Religion gives people hope, a shred of a thought to hang onto when everything seems bleak. It gives people something to live for, inspiration, and morals. It's a good back bone of society.

isn't it amusing how people who think there is nothing after death, are SO certain of it....
yet make fun of religious people who have at least in their own mind, reason to belive there IS something?
I mean in a emperical way, youcan't prove or have evidence for either decicively, you can't prove that there is or isn't. in fact you can't really even have any definitive evidence at all in either direction.

We can't know with absolute certainty what happens after death, but "death is the end of you" is the most logical expectation. Until compelling evidence is presented to the contrary, I'll continue to live my life to the fullest, expecting it all to end at my death.

No. Because you still have to get buried or cremated. All of your debt has to be passed on to your loving family. Still a whole lot of work to be done.
