Do they not understand that lying is a sin and every time they lie to their children about Santa Clause they are doing exactly what god doesn't want them to do?

THANK YOU!! I have always said this and tell my children why I buy them gifts. It is a lie and some kids hold this against their parents for lying. Same thing goes for Halloween and Easter. Why dress up as ghosts, devils, and witches, which goes against our teaching. Celebrate God instead. Don't lie, celebrate and rejoice!

Oh goodness, to each there own in my opinion. Christmas was and always will be my favorite holiday. I was never traumatized by Santa clause and have never heard of anyone being scarred for life about Santa? True Christians are not suppose to judge like you people are doing. Although we are all human and we all sin. For most your heart is in the right place when it comes to holidays. Santa yes as it is a marketing tactic it also signifys giving and appreciation. Christmas for my family is about bringing our family together no matter what hard times we each face, its about love and counting our blessings for Jesus died on the cross for us. Its about giving gifts and thought into each person you are giving too, its about donating to the needy. I just hope you would all respect that. If you and your child doesn't believe in Santa that's okay but me and my child do believe in Santa and I would hope you wouldn't judge or get upset about that!

Have you ever met a child who was harmed by the Santa Clause thing? Get over it already. If you choose to take the fun out of it for your child, then that is your choice.

Let me ask you this- Do you let your child watch Barney? How about Sesamee Street? Teletubbies? Sponge Bob? Dora? Blues Clues? Little Bill? Those are all make believe. Do you tell your child that Elmo does not really exsist, that he is just an annoying puppet? No you probably don't. I kind of think that it is the same thing. Besides Santa emulates the whole spirit of Christmas. Here is a man, who expects kids to behave. Even when they are not perfect, he still brings them gifts. He brings gifts for all kids, regardless of if they are rich or poor, black or white etc.. He loves all children. He brings gifts to all he believe in him, he respects those who don't celebrate Christmas. He is so Selfless. and what do we give him in exchange? A plate of cookies and a glass of milk.

Lets see- Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us all. All he expects of us is that we do our best. His gift is available to all who accept him.

What has Tinky Winky ever done for the world? Oh yeah dance around like a dork and make his but honk when he sits down. YIPEEEEE!!!!

I'm a Christian and all growing up I always knew there was no santa. I never felt traumatized or cheated. Naurally when I had my first child I kept with tradition. I wanted her to know that the reason we celebrate Christmas is Jesus not santa. I was a single mother and had no one to argue with about it. After I got married (he's not a Christian), my hubby told me that Christmas would not be as fun for him if we couldn't do the santa thing. I gave in because I want him to be excited too. I did let him know that I would do it full force until they went to school, then he would have to tell them the truth. I still tell them that the reason we celebrate Christmas is Jesus, not santa andI talk about what Jesus does for us and has done for us. I don't really talk about santa too much, except when their being really bad, then I tell them santa won't get them any presents. I try very hard to put the words correctly so I don't lie outright to them. I let them use their imagination for that.

i don't have little ones yet yet my husband and that i have determined that we are going to no longer promote Santa Claus in our companion and youngsters because a million) What does Santa have some thing to do with Jesus? The season isn't about a jolly guy coming down your chimney to deliver you numerous presents, this is about kin, love and the delivery of our Savior and King! My children will receive 3 wrapped promises the picture of Jesus did. My children would learn that JESUS IS the reason behind THE SEASON no longer SANTA! the international is so wrapped up with figuring out to purchase, getting each thing they prefer and forgetting what the genuine which technique of Christmas is about. 2) I actually have heard too many human beings analyze Santa to Jesus and my own nephew stated, "Jesus must be Santa!" also, i have heard one human being say properly, "for the reason that i became lied to about Santa then how do i understand i'm no longer being lied about Jesus?" C'mon persons shall we get with it and take back the authentic which technique of Christmas. i'm hoping each human being has a superb Jesus crammed vacation!

They want to see the look of wonderment in their children. But the wonderment and magic will disappear after they discover that he doesn't exist.

You're right, it is lying, but I'm sure they aren't trying to hurt their children, even though they probably are. If the parents are lying about Santa, then maybe the kids will think they're lying about Jesus.
Unless a child grasps the concept of Christ dying for our sins, I doubt they'd understand what's so special about Christmas.

I don't ever recall my parents lying to me about St. Nick or the Easter Bunny or whoever/whatever.

Christmas is about celebrating Jesus' birthday, the day that led to Easter, the day we celebrate His resurrection so we won't spend eternity in Hell.

it also can be devastating to children when they find out the truth that there really never was a santa that brought them those gifts.
i guess some parents feel that their children may miss out on something.

wow, i just read some of the responses from believers. shame on you to justify lying during this season.
the question is a good one, maybe some christians will think about their actions during this season.

lol. I hate liars but thats just ridicilous. Christianity is a joke.

As for Santa, children are children. Let them believe in magic while they can. Life will beat it out of them soon enough. There's no harm in believing in Santa Clause.
