England will be flooded............ immigration will be out of control.... food will be scarce.... and people will die from common colds (we use that much medication that our bodies wont be able to cope with normal germs)

Well at various times in the last 500 years Europe had war, famine, disease, depleted natural resources and global warming. Yes they did.. And I am sure they had about the same percentage of people who thought we were doomed. They likely thought the hand of God was striking them though. Today we are much more likely to imagine that we control our own fate. So we did alright. I'm sure we'll do alright in the next 500 as well.
The only difference is that the weak don't really get weeded out like they did back then by plagues and stuff so we might get a real boomer at some point that wipes out lots of people without immune systems to handle it.

Prior to this war with Iraq, I would have believed that we had a chance at a nice future for our planet, but now I am very skeptical. I hate to be that way because I have 2 young children and I want to know that they are growing up in a safe world. With all of the money the U.S. is wasting on the war in Iraq, and the possibility of other wars in the near future, the economy of the U.S. could plumit, which could have a domino effect on the rest of the world. I pray that the world takes a turn for the better, and soon! Maybe we can get through this with some outstanding leadership throughout the world in the next few years. It would definitely take a miracle for the world to be operating smoothly in the next 500 years, but I think it is possible. If not though, I guess it just doesn't matter. If we are here for a purpose, I don't think we will die out. There is just no telling.

You were correct in phrasing the question in the way you did. Some people claim that we are "destroying the Earth." Earth would get along just fine without us. However, answering your question is simply speculation, as no realistic answer is possible. I think that we will have achieved a better method of space flight, have colonized either planets or space stations, and will have either found an Earth-like planet, or a planet with sentient life. I belive that there will be a third world war, with China and much of Asia, as well as other enemies of western powers, against the West, Australia, and Russia. I firmly believe that we will win, as our military power is based on fighting superior numbers with superior tactics, weapons, and firepower. It is possible that global warming will have made our atmosphere violent enough that coastal areas are evacuated, and possibly even air travel hazardous. As to your question of how long we will last, the human race is far too adaptive to changing circumstances to be wiped out by anything short of a disaster of biblical proportions.

Well considering when I was a child I thought in the year 2000 we would all be walking around in silver suits and using hover vehicles instead or cars etc. who knows how far we would have got in 500 years time if the earth hasn't completely destroyed itself by then.

Ithink there will be more water than earth because with all the pollution there is a sort of barrier which keep the heat locked inside and the poles are all ready starting to melt
