Im just wondering, i can understand if he was Rookie of the Year, which he may have been but Im not sure, because that would explain why Ryan Newman is in it. And I understand that Jimmie Johnson filled in for Brian Vickers when he won the Busch championship, since he wasnt old enough to drive in it. So I guess basically what I'm asking was Mark ROTY, and if not then how did he get into IROC?

And please don't say he should be in it because he's Mark, according to the name of the series it should be Champions only, and Im not taking anything away from Mark, and I also know that he's one a bunch of IROC championships, but Im just wondering how he got in, in the first place?

okay so far thank you, I didnt know about ARCA but the first time an ARCA champion was allowed in the IROC series was this year with Frank Kimmel. What other championships has he one, because saysing ARCA that leaves it in only one series, which as I stated earlier this was the first year an ARCA champion was in IROC.

The IROC series does not limit itself to championship winners, the name refers to the concept that the series winner is an "all-around racing champion." Mark Martin was first selected to run in 1990 based on his NASCAR record to that time, which was quite impressive.

For the first time that Mark was invited into IROC he would have had to won a championship of some form or finished in the top 3 of another form of elite racing series by an invitation, during the previous racing season. He would have to keep on doing this to get invited year after year, or he would have had to win an IROC race or an IROC championship which he did.

IROC isn't just limited to champions. They always take the top 5 NEXTEL Cup drivers. Mark just seems to get in because he's won so many IROC champions before.

IROC Series invites drivers to participate in races. You don't necessarily have to be a champion of any series to be invited.

Mark has won Chapionships in other race series. ARCA for one.

I dont think there is a real good answer for your question. 1990 was the first year he ran he finished 4th, and it was under NASCAR.
