Anyone out there with bipolar type II who has trouble with college performance? Any ideas on how to cope with this? I desperately want to graduate, but am afraid that I won't be able to get it together enough to do so. I'm already on meds and in therapy. Thanks.

I am BP 1 and I am a junior in college..took me 15 years to get there..what's that say..FULL TIME. There are no magical answers here..try to keep your stress down..study when you are "up" or "normal" per say..don't wait till the last minute..I always did and then I would be depressed and sick and miss the deadline or just not care. Balance your time..Study a few minutes and then take a break..don't study until you are in tears or you have pulled out your hair..Are you registered with disability services. They have to work with you on your problems. I get special testing..in a quiet area by myself, extended testing, note takers, tutors, etc..it's a law..they have to work with you..Talk to your instructors..tell them your difficulties and what they can do to help..some will say "tough sh-t , not my problem..but most will try to help. Gl..if you need more help..feel free to write me. U can do this..

I had a breakdown in college while on meds... but it was probably triggered by not letting go of a powerful attachment.

Many cycles have happened since then, and either I'm on the right meds now... or, because I've just had no strong attachments challenged.

Most likely it is both. Meds are only a bandaid... remember, you still need to resolve your problems.
