it depends. how religious are the people who you eat with. if they all share in your beliefs then you may start an interesting discussion, but if there are any staunch believers you could put yourself in a bad position

It violates etiquette. I don't believe in God, either, but I avoid discussing my views in polite company, especially during dinner, when conversation should be social, friendly, and fairly shallow.

If pressed, of course you have the right to be honest. But in most situations, professions of atheism sour the mood. For example, Thanksgiving. Your aunt asks you, "And what are you thankful to God for, Jimmy?" You do not need to pound your fist on the table, point your fork at your aunt, and scream "God is a lie!" Rather, say, "I'm happy that..." or "I feel fortunate that...." It answers the base question without making you a liar or a jackass.

In most religious situations, just keep handy a phrase like, "I doubt I have anything advantageous to contribute to this conversation." Most people are clever enough to see that you disagree, but you're polite about it.

Note: Just to be safe, never have dinner at Ann's or Saul's mom's house.

It depends who you are having dinner with, if it is a group of atheists I think they would agree with you and go on their merry way. If you were with Christians they would probably be offended, but realize that is you opinion and leave it at that. Now at my house I would probably say "well lets find out" and join hands and have an hour long pray meeting. Put on some nice Christian music and explain the entire Bible to you so you could understand the things of Christ.

Not a good conversation unless you know in advance that all the others at the table agree with you. Other than that, you're being a lousy host or guest.

Depends on who else is at the table.

You know full well when doing something like that is just going to cause trouble... Why stir things up during a meal? There is a time and place for eveything.

I don't know about the dinner table, but only a fool says in his heart "there is no God" especially when one look out the front door at all of creation begs to differ.
