Better yet but, on the same track. Get them all a box (or a tub) of cookie dough mix. Wrap it up and put a card on it that says "Everyone can use a little dough this time of year". They will all love it.

INGREDIENTS

3 cups of flour
1/2 cup sugar
7 oz sour cream
4 eggs
pinch of salt
1 tsp baking powder

Mix all the ingredients together, until the dough isn't sticky anymore. Add a little more flour if necessary. Using a rollpin, roll the dough to reach a thickness of 5-6 mm (1/4 inch). Cut the dough in a variety of shapes (squares, losanges or rounds).
Heat the oil, and fry the doughnuts until brown.

French doughnuts are delicious with a variety of sides: jams, chocolate spread, fruit, creams

Go the the craft store and buy inexpensive glass bowls. (The ones that look like little fish bowls with the Lacy tops) Buy a cookie gun and follow the recipe for butter spritz cookies. Place the cooled cookies in the glass bowls. Cover the tops with holiday print plastic wrap, tie off with the curly ribbon. You can do this over the weekend and it will look like you spent hours and hours on these little gifts. The cookie gun will enable you to make dozens of cookies in record time. I have been doing this for 20 years and people actually ask me to make them every year! Have fun, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you!

Make simple christmas cutout cookies and decorate with icing that gets hard - wrap them on a $1 plate from Wal-Mart. Or candy some nuts and put a cup or more in a pretty plasti container and tie with a ribbon. I just saw a show where Rachel Ray did that - it looked pretty. Check her website.

I'm not sure what you call inexpensive but I do have some ideas that would probably cost you less than 25.00
Try making some peanut butter balls and fudge and a nice peanut butter log and mounds, once you make these they can be divided and put in individual small cans. Recipes are followed for each of the above

Peanut Butter Balls
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup crunchy p-butter
1/4 melted maragine
1 cup cushed rice krispies
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
Mix and roll into small balls and let chill
Dip in melted choc chips or white choc chips

never fail fudge
2/1/2 cups sugar
1 small can evaporated milk
1/4 maragine
1 tsp salt
1 jar marshmallow creme
1(120z choc chips)
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
Mix first five ingredients and heat on med heat stirring constantly till mixture comes to boil, continue stirring and lower heat , let boil for 5min.(don't under boil) remove from heat and add vanilla and chips.stir till melted and smooth. pour into a greased glass dish and chill.

peanut butter log
1 box powdered sugar
1 tblsp cooked mashed potato( not instant)
1 cup peanut butter
mix podered sugar and potato, stir and blend well untill mixture can be rolled, sprinkle powdered sugar on cutting board and roll potato mix on that spread peanut butter on top of this and start rolling the log back into itself., chill in fridge overnight and slice next morning

mounds
1 can condensed mild
1 (12 oz) bag coconut flaked
mix and chill overnight, this will become thick and you can roll into balls like the peanut butter ball recipe, roll into balls and re-chill in fridge and dip in choc chips
If you like almond joy bars simply add a small bag of slice almonds to the above and you have it

Choc Chip dip for the above recipes

semi sweet chips ( your favorite flavor)
2 tbsp paraffin wax
