As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I know how much effort is involved in knocking on the doors of people that in most cases are not interested in what I have to say.

Although I have never gone to the door of a mormon (that I am aware of), mormons have come to my door. I first commend them for their faith and zeal. Then we have a brief, pleasant conversation that ends with me still being one of Jehovah's Witnesses and them still being mormons.

No, there is no "explosion." They would probably reject our message like we would reject their message. I've never encountered a Mormon personally doing door-to-door but my mom had a pretty interesting discussion with two Mormons when she was out in the ministry and their was no "explosion." I'm assuming you meant a huge confrontation when the two meet right?

When the Jehovah's Witnesses show up on our street, I like to see what printed material they hand out, since some of their artists are pretty good. I like talking to Christians of all varieties. Oh, and for the answerer who said the places in the Book of Mormon don't exist, nice try. There are still ruins of Lamanai in Belize - which bears a remarkable resemblance to either the name Laman or Lamoni in the Book of Mormon, and an independent Jewish professor named Dr. Joseph Ginat has documented the Beith Lehi cave in Israel, which shows the name Lehi did indeed exist in Israel, and the cave where Nephi and his brothers took refuge in could very easily have been in the cave Ginat has visited, or nearby.

So while we respect the rights of Mormons to believe as they choose, this matter illustrates that the teachings of “The Book of Mormon” are simply not compatible with the Bible. How can the Mormons say they believe that the Bible and The Book of Mormon are both from God but not see that they contradict each other?

After a lifetime of intense study, former British Museum director Sir Frederic Kenyon testified: “The Christian can take the whole Bible in his hand and say without fear or hesitation that he holds in it the true Word of God, handed down without essential loss from generation to generation throughout the centuries.”

The Book of Mormon presents itself more as a historical narrative than as a doctrinal treatise. The phrase “and it came to pass” occurs about 1,200 times in the current edition—about 2,000 times in the 1830 edition. Many places mentioned in the Bible still exist, yet the locations of virtually all sites named in The Book of Mormon, such as Gimgimno and Zeezrom, are unknown.

Considering such questions, members of the Mormon faith do well to reflect seriously on the words of Mormon Rex E. Lee: “The authenticity of Mormonism stands or falls with the book from which the Church derives its nickname.” A faith based upon solid Scriptural knowledge, rather than just on an emotional prayer experience, presents a challenge to sincere Mormons—as well as to all claiming to be Christians.

Not only the Mormon faith but all religions claiming to be Christian must submit to this test, for Jesus said: “The true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth.”—John 4:23, King James Version.

I was a Mormon Missionary for two years in Ireland. There were four of us living in a flat and we were eating lunch, in our white shirts and ties, when two JW's knocked on our door. Their eyes got huge when they saw four Mormon missionaries. They just said, "Well, we better not waste each others time trying to convert each other because it probably won't work." We smiled wished them the best of luck and went back to eating. I don't know if we even said anything... I don't remember. :)

I am LDS, and have had Jehovah's Witnesses come to my door, and honestly it's always been a pleasant encounter. They give me their pamphlets, I say thank you, and tell them how much I respect their missionary efforts and we say good bye with a smile.

That's about it.
