use pasteurized egg whites that you can find in a carton in the dairy case of your supermarket.

Unfortunately, yes, you do risk salmonella poisoning with raw eggs. Use a different protein source for your shakes to prevent any really gross sick symptoms from a possible salmonella poisoning. I use Kashi Lean Shake Mix.

As long as the chicken who gave the egg(make sure the egg is fresh and not a rotten one) was properly raised (omnivore) and is organic without hormones and antibiotics and free to roam getting natural sunlight, then the egg is considered safe. Don't be scared of salmonella poisoning. For your info, if you eat cookie dough, you are eating raw egg. Did you know that there is also a natural salmonella colony in your gut? ~ Food for thought. I personally don't eat raw eggs because I am vegan. But if you want to be healthier and eat animal products, at least eat them in a way that is not harmful to the environment or to the animals themselves, or harmful to yourself.

There will always be a risk, but it is extremely rare. I always add eggs to my shake, and I cant even taste them If you're seriously tryjg to see results, the added 6 grams of protein per egg will out weigh the "eww" factor.

Wash the shell real good before you crack it open if you are not going to cook the egg. The salmonella is on the shell, not inside.

There is always that risk, just make sure if its a double yolk egg you throw it out. Also don't use it if there is any different coloration in the egg.
