Just sounds like her vioce changed. Older cats have that happen quite a bit. It's normal.

As long as you don’t think she is suffering, it seems like a normal phenomenon.
Watch out for signs of uneasiness, then you should go and see a vet!

Mine got 'grumpy' and just 'slightly growled' all the time.

Let's face it your cat is 84 "cat years" old

It has a right to be grumpy.....
