My father is an atheist, my mother is sort of agnostic (or rather, she doesn't bother with faith at all), and I'm an Orthodox Christian.

If you did not learn about God at a young age you may not be a believer, but many people who have had atheists for parents turn into the best believers. My mom and dad did not instruct me on matters of religion only a couple of times when mom was watching a TV ministry. My Grandmother influenced me the most when I was young. I hopped a bus and went across town to join her Anglican Church. I have loved Jesus for years.

Yes, as a thinking and observant individual, it would seems quite impossible that earth, people and the universe just slowly evolved into form and intelligence with no intelligent energy behind it. All of this from nothing? Further, I spent quite a few years being a humanist - not believing in God, after coming from a very rigid fundamentalist home. I came to believe in God through observation and intellectual observation.

this is a question I struggle with all the time, along with many others like why did God allow so many religions to be invented if He all wants us to go to Heaven? Like for instance, how can a kid born to a muslim family ever know the real truth if everyone they know is muslim? I still haven't found the answers, but I hope to someday...

Good question. But the answer is no. I'd just be an atheist without the former catholic baggage.

Probably not.
Another activity that produces atheists is: Parents lying to their children: telling them of a fat man in a red suit that will arrive in the dead of Winter to give them toys.

I would hope that people would look at the evidence, and come to an informed choice, irrespective of their parents beliefs.

My parents were atheists. I lived an atheistic life for most of it. Then Jesus convicted me of my sin, and brought me to my knees. Only when I had nowhere else to turn, did I repent, and come to Him.
I haven't regretted it since.
