call you credit card company and check if they canceled it. Also, some credit cards do not work on certain cash registers.

There could be a few problems. Make sure that your card is for that company (Macy's card for Macy's store and not a JC Penney card for Macy's online store). If it's not, make sure it has a major logo (Visa, MasterCard), the store accepts that card, the card is not expired or is not over the limit. If none of those is the reason, you will have to call the credit card company using the toll-free number on the back of the card.

You didn't say WHO won't accept it or any details.
1) The number wasn't entered correctly.
2) The expiration date wasn'y entered correctly
3) You're out of credit
