We make all sorts at Christmas. Snowmen are super easy. 2 Styrofoam balls held together with a toothpick and a bit of glue. You can draw they eyes and stuff on. Brown pipe cleaners for arms, orange for the nose. Or we made peanut snowmen. Paint the peanut white. Decorate the same as the Styrofoam snowmen. Except poke holes in the peanut with a toothpick before putting the pipe cleaners in for arms and legs. Hold with a bit of glue. You can cut triangles out of felt for little hats, glue the hats on and add a bit of a string loop and you can hang it from your tree. My daughter loves doing stuff like this. We also make decorations with popsicle sticks. Paint them, cover them in glitter and glue them together to make stars. Just have fun.

I am making Christmas cards. A couple of years ago I purchased a rubber stamp set that was Christmas penguins. Walmart has greeting cards in the photo department. They are made for putting 4 x 6 photos in the front of the card. They had one with penguins around the frame. I layered dark blue, light blue and white cardstock and rubber stamped three penguins holding J O Y letters. I colored it like the card. I inserted it into the photo slot. I stamped a penguin holding a sign that says "Don't Peek" on the back of the envelope. It looks quite nice. They have other designs too. I got poinsettias and snowflakes too. It was quick and make a very elaborate card. In the past I've used stickers to make the card to put into the photo slot. That came out nice too.

Take little EMPTY boxes that you have around the house (like for earrings and jewelry or medicine) and take scraps of gift wrap and wrap the little boxes up like if it were a gift, put ribbons and bows and then attach a hoop or string and hang them up on the Christmas tree!
Making christmas decorations with your kids will be fun and next year you will have the memories of having made them together because you can put them up again!

Make hats. You can use construction paper, let the children draw/colour on them, then fold them into cone-shapes and stick onto the side of the hat, some shapes cut out from crepe paper. This is easy, cheap to handle.

As a child, we sewed popcorn strings and used them to decorate the tree (also paper chains), baked a cake and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus.
Let them help decorate the tree.

If you want a simple craft. Get cheap plain stockings, construction paper, glue, and glitter. They can make their own decorations on their stockings. You can write their names in glue, then pour on the glitter. Let it sit on it for a few minutes, then shake it off. Presto.... Their names!!!!

We used to paint wooden Christmas ornaments. They're cheap and you can paint the year & artist on each one. When the kiddos are old enough to leave home, they can take their treasures w/them.
