Genesis 6
6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh *: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
These are the "Gods", spoken of..they were the Fallen Angels.

The Sumer's like other cities of Asia Minor and the Mediterranean, Sumer was a polytheistic society. A belief in more than "One" diety.
There was no organized set of gods, with each city-state having its own patrons, temples, and priest-kings; but the Sumerians were probably the first to write down their beliefs. Sumerian beliefs were also the inspiration for much of later Mesopotamian mythology, religion, and astrology.

Adam and Eve knew God, so did Noah and Job who were before Abraham. People knew God at the tower of Babel when they all had one language and God spread them out to other lands. After Moses the prophets were from the family of Jacob who was the one God passed the covenant to after Isaac and Abraham.... Jesus confirmed the scriptures of the Jews proving the word can not be broken and it is true.
The Sumarians have nothing over the Jews. the sons of Jacob and the ones who obey His commands are still His special people. Some us are grafted into the same vine through faith.

Keep on reading, you will find same story thousand of years before Sumerians, including the Epic of Gilgamesh.Yes we
have the flood story in recorded history three times. God
called Moses His intimate Friend, and Moses appears with
Elijah at the transfiguration of Jesus. That says it all to me.

I heard about the Sumerians account of creation and read the Babylonians one. It's such a nice story to tell u the truth, but it's not written in a way that u would say yeah it makes a lot more sense to me than the version in the Bible. I think the creation story in the Bible makes a lot more sense that's why I choose somehow to believe it.

Alien social engineering first produced what we call the origins of civilization in three places (3 experiments): Egypt, Mesopotamia and China. All three have the same "star gods" concept.
