Yes, and when they do they cause a food poisoning called botulism, which can prove fatal...

All canned foods have an expiration date for reference (past that date does not necessarily mean the can has spoiled), but be careful, if the can has been bent, dented, looks rusty, black or especially if it seems swollen or misshapen... Defintely avoid eating its contents.
Better to waste a can of food and throw it in the trash, than ending up in the hospital!

They sure can, but generally the rule of thumb is NOT to buy any cans that are dented or defective in anyway. Apparently it can damage the inside of the tin that has been specially treated so the food doesn't spoil.

yes of course, thats why they have expiration dates marked on them. if you cant find the expiration dates, check out hte condition of the can itself. does it look old? does it have bulges? does it have dents? if they do, then it would be wise not to use them anymore. and buy canned goods from reputable stores.
