A lot of feminists are pro-choice...They think "white old republicans" don't have the right to tell women what to do with their bodies...I personally think that women who are pro-choice (even if they are not pro-abortion) are just degrading women, and it's not helping their cause. I agree with these feminists on the point that they should be equal, but being equal with men doesn't mean doing to your body WHATEVER you want. They feel that having the choice to an abortion gives them more power...if that's the case, I think they are pretty cheap and low feminists. What do you think about the pro choice attitude of a lot of feminisits?

I'd just like to say, for a couple comments commenting on pro-life and religion...Being pro life has nothing to do with religion, although its MOSTLY religious people who preach it...Many of you are wrong for associating pro life with christianity and other religions...Sure, it is puts into practice what Christians believe. A lot of christians believe in equality for all races, and a lot of non-christians also believe in equality for all races..get the point? Just because you are pro-choice doesnt mean you have to make an attack on christianity

a comment said: "Pro choice isn't pro abortion. I don't know why people consistently choose to believe that it is."...again, why arent people reading? i believe i specifically differentiated between the two in my previous comments by saying "pro choice (even if they are not pro abortion)"...now that sounds to me like i intend to show a difference in the two...But even so, people keep saying PRO CHOICE is NOT PRO ABORTION...would you justify murder by saying you are for people deciding whether they want to murder someone or not, but YOU would never murder someone...sounds horrible! you would allow someone to murder someone else just as long as you are not murdering them? think about it

Comment made: "For some odd reason, I think it's the sin of Pride, most so-called "pro-choice" women will not read what you have to say simply because your avatar is of the male gender. If you use a female avatar, they might at least read what you have to say before they go into an emotional rant and throw all reason and rational thought out the window." ----> this person is so right...a lot of these "feminists" who want equality and respect are so quick to attack men...they are never going to achieve anything by dissing the male sex just to prove their point

Pro choice isn't pro abortion. I don't know why people consistently choose to believe that it is.
The point we're discussing is this: Who has the right to decide what happens to one's bodies? Right now, it's mostly the insurance companies. They decide whether a procedure will be covered or not. Therefore, only the or well off are able to pay for elective or expiremental medical procedures.
With abortion it's different. The government and the religious right believe that it's their job to legislate what women may or may not do once they become pregnant. In many cases, the cause of that pregnancy is not even taken into consideration.
Personally, and I've said this over and over, I believe abortion for the sake of convenience to be wrong. Still, that is my belief, and I think it more wrong for me to impose my morals on another person, especially when doing so will so dramatically impact their life.
I've offered to adopt children when a woman was considering abortion, but I'll never fault her for making what is in many cases a very difficult decision. What I wouldn't do cannot be the model by which all women are to be governed.
If you believe abortion wrong, teach your daughters, and live by your standards. Preach from your pulpits, educate your young. Just dont' assume that what is right for you, your church, your family, to be right for the world. There are many people with many beliefs, and assuming one universal standard is simply a means of moving toward a homogenous world. Religion oughtn't rule government, and outside of religion (even within many religions), morality is not measured universally.

I can completely understand someone having a moral dilemma when it comes to abortion, and I can sympathize with those who feel that it's murder. But, when it comes to the actual legality of it, I don't feel that those people should have the right to tell any woman that what she's doing is murder or wrong. It's entirely her choice. Pro-life groups can argue about how life is precious or abortion is a sin all they want, but when it comes down to it, they aren't the ones who are going to have to raise an unwanted baby. Unless a person is directly affected by that woman's choice, they should have no say in the matter.
Personally, I'm not sure I would ever consider it for myself, but it's not my decision to make for millions of women, and it's not the presidents decision to make either. Abortion is a personal, touchy subject, and each woman needs to have the right to decide for herself.

Why would anyone think that. What does one have to do with the other? Feminism should only be regarding employment, wages, equality in the legal system. Do men have abortions? NO!
I am pro choice and maybe somewhat of a feminist. I am a woman after all.

Feminism is about allowing females the same rights and choices as males have. Reproductive freedom is necessary to achieve that equality. Think about it - if there is a baby on the way, career choices are limited. The right to an abortion makes it possible for a woman to choose if and when she will carry a baby in her womb.
Until the day we can prevent ALL unintentional pregnancies - those that result from birth control failure, rape, or ignorance/lack of education, it is important to provide legal abortion as an option for those who would choose it.
I'm not saying that abortion is a good thing. IMHO, it's tragic. But the circumstances that put women in a position to want an abortion are equally tragic.
Sex crimes and poverty are rampant in our society, health insurance companies won't pay for birth control, but they WILL pay for Viagra. Women still make only 70% of what men make for the same work. The feminist movement has achieved a lot, but women are not equal to men yet.
Still don't understand? Try living as a woman for a year.

I think you are absolutely correct. They are hurting women. NOW never tells a woman that abortions are physically and psychologically damaging. I know women that can't get pregnant now because of the abortion they had years ago. People really do need to be better informed about this issue. We are not a third world country that knows nothing about safe sex, abstinence and birth control. Feminist issues had their place at one time, as did affirmative action, but we are at a place where we can make a name for ourselves and still be a lady. Men and women are not the same. We just wanted equal opportunities and we have them now.
Merry Christmas.

I am a little late and I have never been pregnant but let me just get in my two cents worth. This is what I believe. In case of incest, child molestation, rape or if the woman life is endanger and if the child will be born deformed either in mind or body then the woman should have the right to abortion. As far as a woman's freedom of choice to do as she likes with her body it ends when she chooses not to use protection when she has sex. It should not include her right to murder. This is one woman Atheist point of view. However the Supreme Court doesn't seem to agree with me and I support their decision. xx

Pro-choice, to me, isn't a feminist issue. It's a woman's issue and no-one, be them a ''white old republican'' or a black young democrat will tell me what to with my body and my life.
EDIT: I am physically shaking with rage at your arrogance and patronising tone. I had an abortion at 10 weeks. My boyfriend didn't give a crap and I would have been alone. I wasn't in any way ready for a baby and you think you have the right to force me into motherhood???? You don't know me, my circumstances or my life but you have insulted me in several different areas of my life with your question.
Have you never made a mistake or had something go wrong in your life? Have you ever been in this position and had to make such a devastating choice? NO? F*ck you then.

ok....woah boy, hold your horses, dayum!
not all feminists are pro-abortions...where on earth did you hear such hyperbole?
do you even understand the term?
women having abortions have absolutely nothing to do with equal rights....I think you'll find it's more to do with human rights, than equal rights
not that I'm personally pro-abortion, cos I'm not
edit:
well define A LOT!! that to me signifies that you're referring to a specific number...a majority....well?
well since you gave me the thumbs down after my edit, I can only assume that you have no evidence to back up how many feminists are actually pro abortion....so your argument is severely flawed
