I am homeschooling my teenage daughter. She is now in 10th grade and I am trying to get her ready for college. I would like her to take her PSAT & SAT tests but am unsure how to arrange this. Any help would be just wonderful! Thank you.

Go to http://www.collegeboard.com. There you will find all the information you need to register for the PSAT. Before you sign your daughter up for the PSAT or SAT, have her take some sample tests. If she gets a good score (one that will get her into the college that she would like to go to with room to spare) then she is probably ready to take the test. If she does not meet the score requirements for getting into that college, then she needs to find out where she is having trouble and really study those areas hard. Once she can take different sample tests and get a grade that is more than enough to get her into the college of her choice, then she will be ready to take the real thing.

Another thing to think about is the fact that many colleges prefer to see ACT test scores rather than the SAT. Also, the PSAT will not get you into college, the PSAT is only practice for the SAT and an entry form into a scholarship contest.

The ACT test sight is http://www.act.org. The ACT is basically the same as the SAT, it's just scored differently. The PSAT might be a cheap practice for the ACT. Your daughter will get experience in a testing situation, as well as an opportuniy to possibly win a scholarhip.

If you need any more information feel free to emai me. You can find my email link on my profile page.

Hello! Well, I'm a homeschooled senior (and just so you know I love it! I will be going to college this semester and so far have excelled in all my classes...so keep at it, your daughter will thank you some day!) Back to your questions. I recentely took the ACT and I believe the SAT and PSAT are the same. Search it on google and you should find the "official" site for the test, then fill in the information and pick a testing date. Good luck and God Bless!!!

Go to http://www.collegeboard.com and follow all of the instructions.
You will need to set up an account. It is very easy. All it takes is the time to fill out all of the information that they require. They will tell you which location to go to on the day of the test.

CollegeBoard.com is THE official site for the SAT/PSAT tests. It has a calendar of when and where all of the tests will be offered. You will find even more information --- scholarship programs, financial aid via FAFSA, etc.

I'm a senior and have taken both multiple times. Just call your local private or public school and ask if they offer it. You can also go to the test's website and they can give you high schools that are giving the test. It's a really good idea to get her used to the setting and taking these tests so when she has to take it for real it's no big deal.

I'd call the high school in your area and ask to talk to someone in the guidance office. They should be able to give you the necessary infomation. Most of the tests are given at the local high schools you just need to register etc.

If you are homeschooling her you must have a cover school you are getting work through and have acountability with, right? They will have all the answers for you. I suggest you ask them right away so you can prepare with your daughter. There are often extra classes and tutorial help in preparation as well.
