Most of the dinosaurs died in the Flood, which is where we get the fossils from. Noah did take two of every kind of dinosaur (about 28 different "kinds") onto the Ark (but he brought only babies and juveniles because they are smaller, eat less, weigh less, sleep more and are hardier). After the Flood, many of these died out from the change in the atmosphere. A few species survived over the 4400 years since then, which is where we get legends of poeple killing dragons, which were just dinosaurs. This is also where we get the "Loch Ness Monster" and the plesiosaur that washed up on Monterey Bay in 1925, as well as several other dinosaur sightings. They were smaller than they were before the Flood, but still a threat to Man, so he hunted and killed off those species that were a threat. Every time Man has discovered a new wilderness, the first thing he does is kill off the biggest and most ferocious predators. How many grizzly bears are roaming around Florida? None. How many were there 500 years ago? Probably lots! Humans killed them off. The same happened to the dinosaurs.
The Bible mentions a dinosaur in the book of Job. It talks about an animal that is the biggest one God has ever created. It eats plants and has a long neck AND a long tail ("tail like a cedar tree") and has bones like brass. Some people think it was an elephant or a hippo, but have you ever seen the tail of either of these? NOT like a cedar tree!
There is another dinosaur mentioned called "Leviathan" who is impossible to capture or kill. There is also the story of Daniel who used science to kill a dinosaur (dragon) that Nebuchadnezzar was worshipping. He created a concoction of hair, fat and pitch and fed it to the dragon, which burst asunder when it tried to breathe fire. (There are certain kinds of dinosaurs who may have been able to breathe fire.)

Some say Genesis contains the accounts of two creations. This is called the "gap theory". The first "heaven and earth" would have been in Genesis 1:1 along with the period of the dinosaurs. In Genesis 1:2, the dinosaurs have been wiped out by some catastrophic event and the earth pretty much destroyed. A new earth -- primarily for the human race -- starts to be created in Genesis 1:3.

What do dinosaurs have to do with salvation history?? The Bible isn't a book of zoology or paleontology. Why would it discuss extinct reptiles?? God told Noah to take 2 of each LIVING animal species, not species that were already extinct for millions of years. Dinosaurs did not die in the flood. The flood occurred after human beings were created. Dinosaurs became extinct long before humans existed. "Leviathan" as described in the Bible obviously refers to the animal most fear in that part of the world at that time, the crocodile.

There are many, many creatures that are not mentioned in the Bible. That does not mean that they do not exist, or did not when the Bible was recorded. There are two animals spoken of in scripture that we do not know what they are. One is Leviathan-a sea creature, the other is Behemoth-an extremely large animal. Both could be dinosaurs-no one knows. Some have speculated that they may be a crocodile or a hippo, or even an elephant, but neither fit the descriptions.

You need to read the last few chapters in the book of Job. Two enormous creatures are described, In the King James, they are called "hippopotamus" and "leviathan". The "hippo" is described as having a tail like a cedar tree! The word is actually a translation of an enormous animal, and when you see the description, you see a dinosaur - possibly a brontosaurus? Or some other great beast of the past. What is interesting is that this is described so well in the book of Job.

Dinosaurs in the Bible are called leviathan, or a large sea creature. I have a book that gives Bible verses to back them up but it's at home. I'll be there later. I'll have to get back with you on those verses so you can read them for yourself. I can tell you where to order the small book (more like a pamphlet) which only costs about one dollar or less I think. Keep your eyes peeled......

The dinosaurs were not mentioned in the Bible but neither were most other animals. They lived on Earth and were created by God just like cows, monkeys and dogs.

Oh, they will lead you a merry dance. Did you spot the Behemoth? Apparently an animal, but nobody knows what. Must be a dinosaur!! And the leviathan!!
The latest creationist lunacy is that they ALL drowned in the flood (including one presumes, the marine reptiles like Icthyosaurs).

Dinosaurs were just animals like any other on the earth that died out. Many Christians believe that Dinosaurs and people coexisted. Like the flintstones. Maybe god was bored and decided he wanted to see some cool animal fights.

I believe, key words here, one of three things happened. First, God created with a faux age finish. This means that he made the world look and appear older than it actually is. With this he put in the fossil record. God, as others have said, let them roam before man was made, the time reference used in the creation account is not a mandatory 24hr day, but rather a generalization.
Finally, God has given control of the Earth to Satan. Having done so Satan has created these fossils to put a stumbling block before man. While he cannot create life this should not be out of his abilities.
I realize this sounds like I am putting God in a magic box to protect him from skeptics and the like. But, I believe these are all plausible ideas for some one who does not have one true clue to how God did what he did.
