Bleeding can occur anywhere in the digestive tract. The blood is digested as it moves through the digestive tract. The longer it takes the blood to move through the digestive tract, the less it will look like blood, because it will be partially digested. Often blood from bleeding in the stomach will look black and tarry. Blood that has moved quickly through the digestive tract may appear red or dark red.
It is important to visit your health professional when stools are black, tarry, or mixed with blood that is bright red or dark red. Talk with your doctor any time you have new rectal bleeding or notice blood on your stools. Your health professional may recommend screening tests to rule out a more serious problem, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), colorectal cancer, or diverticulosis. There are easy tests you can get from your health professional to check for even very small amounts of blood in your stool.
Note: Some foods and medicines can also change the look of the stool. If you take bismuth subsalicylate, such as Pepto-Bismol, or iron tablets, your stool may look black, and if you eat lots of beets, your stool may turn red.

Usually the most important consideration is the color of the blood . . if it is red than it is a new or open wound in the lower colon or sigmoid or rectum. Not being a doctor it is difficult to say why you are bleeding. Could be a hemmoroid or a fissure or ulcerative colitis or a polyp. You will need to be examined to determine what the problem is. If you have a regular physician you can go to him. He can refer you to a specialist if there is any other concerns.
The other consideration would be if the blood is dark or black. That would indicate that there is bleeding higher up in the digestive tract and that is considered to be more serious. Darker blood means that your are digesting blood.
Either way you need to go see a doctor as soon as possible. It could indicate cancer too, but therer is no way of knowing until you are examined.

maybe due to constipation or hemorrhoids. However, if there's a sudden irregularity in bowel movement plus blood in stool, Colon cancer is a possibility. Just to be certain, have yourself diagnosed so you can be treated.

If it's actually in the stool-not good but a little bit on the outside might be hemorrhoids? Get checked either way. Not good.

It depends on the colour of the blood. If it is dark and not fresh you urgently need to see a doctor. If it is bright red and fresh it is probably a hemorrhoid. Either way you should get it checked out, better safe than sorry.

could be a hemorrhoid, you can have blood in the stool for that. i would definitely check with a doc though, because it would be an ulcer or other serious things.
