No....doesn't make it right and now we have laws. Not all slaves were treated badly and not all white people owned one. As was stated in other posts....there were white people treated worse than the slaves were. The excuse has outlived it's usefulness. How long does it have to keep going on? How many generations of people have to pay the price for something they or even their ancestors had no part in, simply because of their color?
Especially since there were alot like my family who just finally had the majority of their families finally making it through high school in the past few decades and college is still a dream as well.

Just, legal, and right are 3 different things!
Slavery was not right, but the way slaves were freed was not justice! It is not justice to dump somebody out and say there you are free!
But then again in the legality of things it is legal for the decendants of slaves, some 8 to 10 generations, to claim that the reason they do not amount to anything is that they are decended from slaves and are owed!
This is not right either!!!!
Reality is that the slaves that wound up here are lucky to have been brought here, instead of another nation, or even left in Africa!
Most slaves that went to south american countries died of being worked to death. Those that remained in Africa were still slaves, and most of them were put to death.
While I will not say slavery is a good thing, there were worse outcomes than being a slave in the early US!
BTW
In social order slaves were above poor white farmers!

nope, many disagreed and this country went to war over it. This is what will probably happen with the illegal immigration issue as well. You guys squirt out so many kids, in a generation or two you should have a nice little army.

I don't know...ask the people who sold the slaves. FYI: They were sold by their own people.
I see what point you are trying to make. No slavery is not a good thing, however, it was the normal thing at the time. Furthermore...what the hell does slavery have to do with illegal immigrants?

Slavery was not right, however that was in the past, and you could look at the bright side at least your in America now ,while the illegals you are supporting are breaking the law to be here.

It was made illegal because it is not right. Not one single human being should be subjected to doing something they don't want to do. Every human being has their own personal opinions and feelings and no one should have ever been able to tell a person what to do. I think it was wrong, very wrong indeed.

Why don't you ask Africa, they sold them to us. And they still do today(sell their own people). In Sudan, people will WILLINGLY sell their kids to Arab slaveholders even today. But your not worried about that are you?
