Electric fences are useless with a great many breeds who discover how they can get through them. This dog needs to be behind a real fence before you have to scrape her up off the road!

The one and only way to teach a dog to come reliably is by never, ever giving them the chance to disobey. This means starting from the beginning, put the dog on a very light-weight nylon rope, let her do her thing, then call her - be up-beat, never sound like you're mad and if she comes, give her lots and lots of praise (and perhaps a treat). If she doesn't come, gently give a tug to get her started in your direction and keep encouraging, again praising when she gets to you. It's going to take much longer with an independent 3 year old than it would with a puppy, but you need to work on it every day and be very consistent.

Never call a dog to punish them.

You need to spend alot of time with your 3 yr old dog...and get the family to try to help you out to train her.Or you can take her to the vet and get her in those training classes.Good luck
