You will never get red with liquid food coloring, just darker shades of pink. If you want a true Christmas red you need to purchase a paste food coloring. You can buy paste food coloring at any cake decorating supply store, some craft stores have cake decorating supplies, you might be able to get some there. Be very careful with using paste food coloring. Use a toothpick to add the food coloring to your icing and add only a small amount at a time. Paste food coloring is extremely concentrated and a little goes a very long way. Also, since it is a paste and not a liquid, it will not thin down your icing. Good luck and have a wonderful Christmas. :)

I made home-made cookies with my children and nieces last week. It would be a better idea to add red food coloring to a white icing and frost the cookies that way. Your color would look very intense as a frosting. I'd settle for the pink cookies with a red frosting.

Deep purples are WONDERFUL for a wedding. You can use gold or silver for accents. Also, you can add the green . Green makes any color pop! To keep the christmas feeling, make sure you add tons of sparkle. For centerpieces and/or accent pieces, you can use christmas ornaments(in either gold or silver, whatever your accent color is) in a clear vase with branches. You can spray greenery with touches of glitter, gold, or silver. Not ALL the greenery, just a hint here and there. Use greenery like holly and evergreen. Use sparkle napkin holders. Have pretty wreaths hanging on the entrance doors. If you do nothing else, use sparkle!

Keep adding the red, sometimes the powdered coloring works best.
