Can a 4 year old get deppressed? My 4 year old is sleeping an awful lot even though she runs around and plays and everything, her daddy just got shipped out to baghdad and im just worried. i dont wana over react if shes just tired but i know sleeping alot is a symptom of deppression. Please help

try to talk to her and make her feel safe, tell her nice stuff and make her open up to you, maybe its not depression but sadness... ask her if she misses daddy and see how she reacts

NO. i AM 13 AND i REMEMBER WHEN I WAS 4 THAT iF i GOT MAD OR SAD i WOULDN'T TALK AND GOT TO SLEEP. BUT THE NEXT DAY FORGET. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT i NEVER NEW WHAT DEPRESSION WAS 'TiLL i WAS 10YRS OLD. TALK TO HER. LET HER KNOW THAT YOUR THERE FOR HER.

you know, they do have therapy sessions for children with depression. i know of a little girl who went to those sessions because she was depressed that her sister went off to college. she's the same age.
