Had a Christmas party yesterday for my work. I offered this woman a ride, but only if she was headed to the after-party at another co-workers house (since it was near where the work party was). She declined, and said she wasn't going to the after-party.

As I'm leaving the work party, she then says she's going to the after-party, because she has nothing better to do. So, she follows me there. There weren't too many people there, so it was kind of like a big group conversation, not a chance to really get a good one-on-one thing.

Do you think this is a coincidence, or do you think there might be something there? I DON'T want to get involved with someone I directly work with, but I could easily request a transfer to another area in order to go out with her.

Play it by ear. Don't read too much into this. Did she give you any signs other than just changing her mind about going? She could have just been bored and not feeling like going home after all. Invite some people from work over to your place for a gathering and include her...see if she comes...try to get her aside for a personal chat. You are thinking about transferring at this point? A bit obsessive don't you think?

It would be premature to come to a conclusion based on this one occurance. However, surely during this holiday season there will be at least a luncheon or after hours get together that you could casually try to include her in. Give some warning, like "Say on Friday, some of us are stopping by Bennigans after work for a quick round before we head home. I'd love to have you come along if you're available". It will give things a chance to mature.

I am confused. If you dont want to go out with her, then why are you going to try? Are you going to end up breaking her? KD! Anyway, i dont think there is really any chemistry there, but i do think you should get to know her better. GL!
