Lipotherapy
Lipotherapy is a method of localized spot fat reduction that shrinks areas of the body, such as double chins, under the eyes, the lines between the nose and the corners of the mouth, arms, love handles, and buttock folds, that are hard to firm up or reduce through weight loss alone. About 75-80% of patients have a significant, visible reduction and loss of inches to the areas being treated. Because of the nature of individual response, specific results cannot be guaranteed.
Lipotherapy is an alternative to liposuction, but is not designed to be used as a weight loss program. A healthy diet and exercise program are also necessary for optimal results. It works well in conjunction with a weight loss program, such as WIN’s Clean & Lean cleansing and weight Loss program, to achieve the finer details of the results you desire. Once these results have been achieved, they will remain as long as significant additional weight is not gained.
Lipotherapy works by causing emulsification and lysis, or dissolution, of fat cells. The fatty acids are then slowly reabsorbed and flushed from the body over a period of weeks. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) and sodium deoxycholate (DC) are injected into the areas where you want fat reduction. PC is a surfactant that is natural to the body and a component of bile acids and the membranes of all cells. DC is an emulsifier necessary to make PS into an injectable form.
Injections are given every two weeks with a maximum of five treatments per area. The number of injections required depends on the thickness of the fat layer and individual response. The PC and DC will continue to work on dissolving fat for up to six months. If necessary, the series can be repeated again every six months but this is rarely the case.
Itching and burning sensations at the site of injection for about twenty minutes or longer are common side effects that will happen after almost every injection.
Lipotherapy is not for everyone. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less. If your BMI is higher, the results of the lipotherapy will not be sufficient to produce the desired visual results. In addition, patients with diabetes, HIV, kidney disease, severe hypertension, cardiac problems, hemophilia, on blood thinning medications, or with unrealistic expectations are all unsuitable for the procedure.
