Where is Christmas being dumbed down? As far as I can see, despite rising electricity costs, every house in our road is ablaze, and when I went to Sainsburys before, there wasn't a trolley that was empty, they were bulging with food and drink.
It's just a media thing isn't it? Normal people are still going totally OTT cos it's Christmas and cos we can, and why not?

Wishing everyone of any religion a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!!!!!!!!

It might help if Christians remembered that during the month of December, a holiday season happens. Christmas is not the only major holiday this month. There is Yule, Hanukkah, Christmas(both secular and religious), Kwanzaa and the Winter Solstice just to name the ones I know of.

Then again if a holiday holds great meaning, no one can dilute the meaning down for you, unless you let them. Personally as a Wiccan, I get tired of having one holiday shoved down my throat as having only one meaning. There are many holidays and many meanings.

No one's dulling down Christmas. The problem with those who think so is that what they really want is for everyone to celebrate the way THEY want Christmas celebrated.

No one is coming into your home and telling you not to play Christmas music on the radio or to your church and saying that you can't gather there for worship on Christmas eve or morning. You celebrate in your way and let every one else celebrate in theirs.

Your governments are trying to find a way to end this absolutely disasterous war they got themselves and you into. They are trying to quiet down the rabidly christian supporters of the war. This Christmas crap is just to distract you from the failures in the middle east.

Please, in the 80's when we still said "Christmas" it still had nothing to do with Jesus and everything to do with Santa and presents and making money. Just now people are admitting it was BS and realizing they are not celebrating CHRISTmas but a winter holiday of gift giving and tree lighting.

Leave CHRISTmas to the CHRISTians!!!!!!

Never trust a liberal politician. Not even their mothers trust them.
I wouldn't go to Saudi Arabia or India and try to stop them from celebrating Eid or Diwali. Why should I stop celebrating Christmas?
Merry Christmas!

You sure are. Religion isnt entitled to any special respect - people need to get a goddamm grip. If you say you believe in power and government being controlled by people you can get called a stupid commie and have no recourse to the law but if someone says I cant touch the light switch on sunday we say 'i respect that'

Screw religion. Lets make it fun and commercial with pagan trees and elves and forget about Jesus who was after all born in summertime.
