Commuting expenses to and from work are not deductible. You may want to talk with your employer about them adopting a transportation fringe benefit plan. Such a plan would allow you to pay for these expenses on a pre-tax basis.

You dont mention if you are self- employed or not. If you are then ,yes, this would be part of your transportation deduction. If you are employed by a company then, no, commuting is a personal expense and, therefore, not deductible.

Normally the cost of business travel WHILE on the job is deductible. Getting TO the job is not. Confirm w/ your nifty 2007 IRS book out soon.
