Look into Boxer rescue groups in your area. They pull animals from shelters or unfortunate situations, rehabilitate them, and find them good homes. Their adoption procedures may be pretty intense, some require that they inspect your home and living conditions before they will adopt you a dog, but they definitely put the time and effort into making sure you get a good dog.
