please dont think i would have ever done that to my child! i agonized to find a name that would grow up with her with as little teasing as possible. kaitlyn is beautiful since emily was already taken by someone else in the family. rest assured we spelled it KAITLYN and she is beautiful!

Kaitlyn is a beautiful name. I wanted that for my child if she is a girl but my sons name is Caden and my fiance feels the names would be to similar. You can spell names anyway you want so if you spelled it K8lyn then thats what they would put on the birth cert and SS card.. im sure it would happen with a few shaken heads and negitive comments though. What kinda country would that be if they told us how we could and couldnt spell our childrens name?

No that is not a fad. Please do not do that to your child by speeling her name with numbers. I hope they wouldn't put something like that on a birth certificate or social security card. But it is a cute name, just spell it without numbers.

Oh gosh, what would her friends say later?

It would be unique, though :P
