I find it very strange that over 75 percent of people have the same religion as their family's. Its like if you get forced feed this information from birth you accept it as fact and not even think about it.. Lets say your a christian..if you were born in Jerusalem would you still be a christian..or in china or India?..still a christian? lets say you were born in utah you most likely to be a mormon.
I think whatever religion is feed to you from birth you accept it as the right one and if anyone tells you otherwise then they are the wrong one... Its a FACT someone has to be wrong... but also
its very possible EVERYONE IS WRONG

I've looked at every religion and Christianity is the only right one for me.

I am not the same religion, but I think that's because my family isn't strict and crazy religous. I grew up with two religions, basically only celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Passover, and Yom Kippur. I don't attend church so I think this has opened my mind to other religions and so I have made my own decision, and it turns out not to be Judaism or Christianity.
So I do beleive that people are affected by what their parents do- I think this is true for their beleifs in politics too. Most likely, if your parents are democrats, you will be a democrat. So thats the deal. Humans learn from their parents. Whoo!

I guess I was lucky. Most of my family is Christian, my father is Agnostic and I'm a Pagan. The only Pagan in my family, that I know of. But I was not raised in any religion. There was talk of a belief in God but no set religion was ever fed to me.

I agree... it's very possible Everyone is Wrong.

I don't believe the religion of my birth, but it did help me to see what I see as greater truth, so it was not all for nothing. Even the bible says it the same way.

1Cor.8
[2] And if any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Rom.3
[7] For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

Even the truth of God can more abound (increased in great quantities) from a lie according to the bible. But it says (if you read further in this chapter) once you realize the lie, just because it has helped you to see the truth of God doesn't mean you are to continue in it. Hopefully the whole world will someday truly understand this verse to its fullest.

Thanks for the question.

Lots of people believe in Darwin's theory and I personally can't blame them, considering the evidence.... Just because evolution is a fact does not mean there is no God tho... I'm a God fearing person and I prey daily but I've never been able to find a church I feel comfortable in or feel good mingling with the people there. God is not to be fully understood I think. We are unable to do that, but we definitely are born with a sense of a higher power.

Yes, I believe in the same religion as I was raised...I have many friends who are different religions and I give them all the kudos's in the world for being as devout in their faith as I am mine....The one I follow works for me...I can't imagine following anyone besides Jesus....but that is just me....and I do understand what you are saying about everyone not being able to be right...but that does not negate the wondrous joy I receive from mine...I think when we get to Heaven, we will all find that we were a little bit right and a little bit wrong......and you also make a valid point about people being raised in one religion tending to stay in that one....but I know many people who have converted because the truth of a particular religion was more obvious to them than how they had been raised....we all search for our own truths....some of us find them early...and to me that is a blessing....

Oh yea, as I have stated many times before...my brother is an athiest...and we were both raised in the same religion....an example contrary to your theory....

You bring out a very important point that the truth must be constantly evaluated. There are hundreds of religions out there. You must admit statistical, that provides very bad odds of you being right. A logical person must find truth based on facts and the study thereof, not society, family, friends, popularity, or personal preference.

For what it is worth, I fall into the category of still holding the religion of my parents, though I differ on many of the finer points from them.

religion is a belief. each of us has the opportunity to believe or not believe in whatever we choose. while many of us were brought up to have a certain faith it is not necessarily force fed. religion is passed down just like you would pass down a family heirloom. it is something you treasure and take care of. some stay with the religion they were brought up with because it is what they know. it's comfortable.others truly believe in their faith and will protect it at any cost. either way it is a personal choice and should not be degraded by any one.

That is the simple answer. The truth is that most don't like to change. It is always the few that really want to find answers that make their way to their own conclusions. There are Christians everywhere, even in Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, secular countries. Just as there are Muslims in Christian, Jewish, or Hindu countries. Break the mold and make your own decisions, because that is where true enlightenment comes from.

God gave us all free will. It's up to you to decide how you want to worship God. It sounds like you're not sure of your own faith in God. I thank God everyday that I was born in the U.S. and have the opportunities in life that people don't have in other parts of the world and I worship Him because in my heart I know He's right for me...after all, faith is believing in something you can't see, or touch, but you know is there. I wish you could feel that strongly...if you did, you could never make the comment you did in your last sentence.

You know what I find strange? that this question, or one very similar, was asked several times in the past two days, and yet, you still think this is new and exciting.

It is painfully obvious that you do not have a religious belief, and hey, that is fine with me, but why do you insist on trying to convince us that YOU are right? Perchance YOU have it wrong and we (the force-fed) are correct?

But, to answer your question, NO.

I do NOT follow the religious beliefs of my famly.
