No. Chewing is only the first part of digestion. Most calories are absorbed as food runs thru the small intestine.

Calories are just a measure in which food is burned by the human body. If the food never makes it to your stomach and digested, its not broken down for use by your body.

If you spit it out you won't get any calories. You aren't absorbing food in your mouth. You'd have to be careful not to swallow any saliva too though, because some of the food could be disolved in your saliva.

No,you get the calories only when the food gets in your stomach and the calories and nutritials the food has get in your organism.Yes,I think this is how it works.

Your body will STILL absorb some of the food in the chewing process, as you wouldn't be able to spit ALL of it out.

You REALLY concern me with this question...Are you one of those women who weigh 98 lbs and think you're fat??

If so, seek professional help!

Oh, good grief. If you don't swallow it, how would you get calories from it? Come on....think.

It's a really BAD thing. I just can't believe the starving girls out there thinking that being emaciated is going to make them happy.

you start do digest things even before they get to your stomach. salivary amylase (in saliva) starts to break polysaccharides into disaccharides in your mouth. that means carbs are broken down to sugars. that's why if you put a saltine in your mouth and suck on it for a while it sort of starts to taste sweet. so i think you can still get the calories without swallowing.
