You have to wear them continuously for a month or so after getting your braces off. Then just at night forever. No they don't hurt. They just click onto your teeth.

they really dont hurt. well the ones im using are these clear plastic retainers and they hook on to the exact size of your teeth. you might feel as if your teeth are moving, and thats because they are fitting themselves in a tight spot so they wont get loose again and moved into the incorrect places they used to be in before you got braces.

i have to have them put on me throughout the whole day, and only take them off when i am going to eat, and then brush my teeth and put they back on right away. since the retainers might get a little bit more dirty, you can wash the retainers with soap and then toothpaste to get the flavor of soap off the retainers, so when you put them back on you dont taste the soap.

after six months you only wear them when your are going to sleep at nights, just for precaution if the teeth move around again.
well, i hope you have a great idea of what you can expect, and use this info. as reference.

good luck in advanced.

they hurt when you dont wear them for a long time and your teeth move
They usually fit to your mouth
You put them on whenever your doctor tells you... wear it around the house and when you go to bed or you can wear it all the time if it doesnt embarass you

Its pretty easy. Ask your orthodontist. And no, they don't hurt, just feel a little tight if you don't wear it enough.
