Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, often called ADD or ADHD, is a diagnostic label that we give to children and adults who have significant problems in four main areas of their lives; Inattention, Impulsivity, Hyperactivity and Boredom. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurologically based disorder. It is estimated that 10% of all children born in the county were exposed to drugs or alcohol in utero by their mothers. There are no known "safe levels" of drug, alcohol, or tobacco use while pregnant. The use of drugs or alcohol are especially dangerous to the developing baby and can often cause neurological problems. When these children enter school, they often display problems with attention, impulse control, temper, learning, and behavior. They are often misdiagnosed as having a genetically based Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. What they really suffer from are structural brain injuries thanks to their mother's past behaviors.
Also it's important to know that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and I.Q. are two different things.
Hope this goes a little way to dispel the ‘fog’

75 % of the world population has atleast 1 symptom of ADD/ADHD. There are 7-9 symptoms for ex: (Concentration, hyper activity, aggression, etc.).
Most people are born with it, but a person can definitely develop ADD/ADHD. If you've been mentally scared or physically (For ex: car accident) then some people develop symptoms later in life.

perhaps you're good in that it truly is overdiagnosed. a cutting-edge article contained in the long island circumstances reported that the drug market had achieved a marvellous pastime in promotion ADHD. medical doctors paid as experts who gave gleaming comments of the drugs used for ADHD etc. it truly is somewhat a watch opener that article. i visit nicely believe your tale about the lady on Ritalin. those drugs are addictive and function some nasty unintended effects like dropping urge for nutrients, insomnia and far of alternative issues. a a lot safer wager will be to apply a organic clinical care.

You can have the genetic tendency for it. But....

Recent research is shedding light on non-genetic things that provoke ADD/ADHD. For instance, chronic yeast or fungal infections or overall poor bowel performance can bring on the symptomology of ADD/ADHD. Since so many chemical neuromessengers involved in ADD/ADHD (dopamine, etc.) are produced in the gut, if the gut doesn't work right, chances are your brain won't either.

You are born with it. If you looked at a PET brain scan of a person with ADD or ADHD you would be able to see the difference on the scan compared to a scan of a person's brain that does not have it.

If your parents have it then most likely you will. ADHD and ADD are caused in part by a lack of omega 3 fatty acids, obviously if your mom is deficient then she has none to pass on to the child she is nursing.

a brief article. The thing is to do a search in google....err yahoo on the topic.

Ahhh... the age old question... Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I think it can be developed. I've studied neurotransmitters, and due to deficiencys in your body, the neural paths can slow down or speed up, so why cant adhd develop later in life, or even go away?

The research I've done, books, internet, talking to physicians all agree that it's a genetic disorder. However, I do think you can "outgrow" it. But perhaps it's not even that, maybe we simply learn methodologies that help cope with the syndrome enabling us to be productive members of society.
