I would just have a friendly conversation & see how it goes. If he sounds encouraging then just come out & tell him but if he doesn't sound interested, don't. Then you would just come off as sounding needy.

be like hello and just talk about the good times u guys had together and then bring it up or u should tell him to meet up with u some where then tell him
