I dont understand how people believe in adam and eve and still dont believe in evolution. Did they poof out of thin air and have nice clothes, big house, sweet ride? Or were they just naked, dirty cave dwelling animals and had nothing but animal instinct and if so then we evolved into modern man.

hmm...read the first couple chapters in Genesis and you'll have your answer. God created Adam from the dirt (typical since most guys are dirt..hehe just kidding), and created Eve from Adams Rib. They lived in paradise (Garden of Eden) and everything was perfect. They sinned, and God cursed the earth, woman got birth pains, guys are commanded to work the land. Lots of other stuff happened, you can read about it.

I do agree. Religion is unlogical, most likely because it was invented by man. many of the things that occur in the bible by a superior being's hand are very odd things that a perfect being would not do. EVen the afterlife is not logical. it deals with absolution. You are good or bad and u only go to two totally abosolutley opposite places. An absolute system for something as important as an afterlife is far from perfect, and could only have been invented by man.

Religion does play an important part in human life. It filled in the gaps of things human's didn't understand, and reassured them that they understand everything about things they had no idea about.

Now in this age, humans are starting to figure things out, and religion's explanations are challenged by more logical ones. Similar to when the idea of the Earth revolving around the Sun was originally shunned by society beacause it went aginst what the church taught.

Eventually they adapted the idea to fit in with religion and life went on. The same thing will happen with evolution. it might take a hundred years, but it will happen.

Evolution is actually very simple and extremely logical. ANimals start out with varied traits, but the ones with the weak traits die off, leaving the strong to reproduce the whole population with just the strong traits. But then a rival species has trouble with the new strong animals, so the weak in the rival species die, and the rival species now has a new generation with strong animals, Then the original species is the weak one, and its weak animals die off, leaving the strong to repopulate.

The cycle is mixed in with a huge web of species diseases, weather, and other circumstances.

Other traits can introduced with evolution. Thats how sea dwelling animals moved oneto land, and land dwelling turned into birds. Some freak accident with genes might've given an animal something close to wings, and thats kind of helped the animal, so it survived, to reproduce, and spread its mutation, then another mutation will occur and that animal breaks away from the species, to form a subspecies.

The whole process is extremely complicated, but once u understand the basic ideas, u can apply them to things u see in history and otherplaces.

So in conclusion , its only logical that adam and eve could not have existed in the way the bible tells it, and you have to use logic to understand that you truely will never avsolutely know man's origin.

Btw- Im pretty sure that the first evolutionary humans wouldn't have lived incaves, those cave dwellers were more during the first ice age, but i could be wrong. Its a mute point ethier way.

Here's one reasonable way you can do both.

If you can accept that they represent the development of man from the lower order and that tasting the fruit represents an increase in homosapien knowledge through evolution, including carnal knowledge, then you can reconclie Genesis and creation and Adam and Eve with an evolutionary process of creation that was set in motion by God.

If you view each day in Genesis as a period of development along the creationary/evolutionary process instead of 24 hours, thne it all works nicely.

remember the bible was related orally first then written down for simple people of limited literacy and analytic ability. I beleive God knew that as we developed intellectually over the ages we could see the deeper meanings throughout genesis and the bible entire.

Yet the simple people of the time and simpler thinkers or less inquistive personalities of today can accept it more literally .

that is the beauty of the bible really. it provides answers and at the same time causes questions and provokes thinking.

Your question is really a very good one.

To me it is clear that God set creation in motion as an evolutionary process which continues today. God and knowledge and Science really can coexist and even enhance belief.

For those who choose they can accept it as purely seven days and Adam and Eve, literally.

Neither is really wrong. It is that we believe and live like he wants, not so how we interpret doctrine, Dogmas, or even all facets of the bible.

Again, Good question!

Even when I was a very small child and thought that God did probably exist, I didn't believe in Adam and Eve. I didn't think it was literal. I really thought my mom was leaving something out when she told me about the rib, as if that had to be a joke or I was too young to understand that the 'rib' actually meant something else. But no, that's supposedly what really happened. So I don't believe it.

I definitely believe in the STORY that there was once an Adam and an Eve. This has nothing to do with the Bible. It is just a nice story to bring evolution closer to children!!
Evolution is so much more convincing than sectarian theories about intelligent design and all that crap.

With regard to the clown who is now President I might even add: Darwin for President (if it were not so outrageously ridiculous!!!)

When God created Adam and Eve They were perfect and spoke directly to God. After satan tempted them, and they disobeyed, they lost their innocence. They had to give up their beautiful garden of eden and work by the sweat of their brow and face the terrible curse of death. Jesus promised he would come and pay a terrible price for their sin and then they could go to heaven. Eden was a garden of indescriable beauty. Go to yosemite and look over glacer point, and that is nothing compared to the garden of eden. God had to slay an innocent lamb to make a coat for them so they wouldn't be naked. Adam was 18 feet tall and eve 16 feet tall now look at us thats evolution. They lived to be around 900 years old.

God made them naked, they ate from the tree of knowledge even though God told them no, That is when they realised that they were naked, and clothed themselves.

There is evolution but not as in monkey turning into human, there is evolution to what we learn but that s only because we strive the knowledge of what we do not have any knowledge about.

The End

Wow, you need to read about something before you comment on it... O.k. Adam was made from the earth- not another creature- and Eve was created with a rib from Adam and then the rest was earth as well. They were naked-then kicked out of Eden. Then they had to live off of Guidance from God- so that they could life at all. Really-read it first man-just shows you as ignorant.

I am not a Christian anymore, and I do not believe that adam and ever were actual people. Perhaps they are a figurative representation of something else. In any case, even from a Christian viewpoint, there is nothing to suggest that creationism and evolution can not go hand in hand. who is to say that god did not have all the time in the world and knew we would evolve properly??

Here is how I believe in Adam and Eve and not Evolution.

I believe in the Bible.

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

Have you read Genesis 1 and 2?
You should start there....and ask the Lord to reveal the truth to you through the scriptures so that you do not become confused or take it out of context.
