When my son was 4 years old we were looking at the christmas lights on a building. He turned to me and said I can't tell which light will blink next, they just blink at random...That just stoped me in my tracks, totally unexpected from a 4 year old :)

I have a 6-year-old with autism. He's very good at writing poetry. He loves to pun, loves riddles and word play. But he can't start a conversation with another 6-year-old. I don't want your son to look as thick as "pig poo." Every kid is different. We're all experts at something. If your son is brilliant, find a way to engage him. Celebrate his strengths, give him a big hug.

Ok my 3 1/2 year old is tri lingual. She speaks fluent English, knows spanish from her grandfather and is almost done learning all of sign language. She talked at 18 months, in full sentences, and is Mary in the first grade class at church in the Christmas play. So a 3 year old in a first grade play, and the star!!! The Dr. told her she was very smart, at age 2, he said she was as smart as a 5 year old.

They say that the best indicator of intelligence is a hearty since of humor. My five year old niece concocts her own jokes. They are clever and usually use puns which shows so much imagination.

Good for you! I love hearing people who think their kids are smart!

My son is four. Since he's busy running a Fortune 500 company, I really don't have time to watch him and see how clever he is.

my four year old was given some random pieces of cloth, string , crayon, a paperclip and a hankerchief. She was asked to make a star. She made a persons face. When told that she was supposed to make a star not a person, she replied with, " it is a star, it is Elvis Presley!"

Composing violin concertos. Like, MOZART. He did that when he was only 4. So, I doubt most 5 year olds are that good, they still poop their pants and pick their boogers.
