Better be safe... go with products like Hot Chocolate mix and chocolate Werther's original hard candies. You will give your friend a cocoa treat without the risk of it melting and being dissapointing. The weather does get a little cooler there, but you just never know. If it's chocolate and not other sweets that your friend is after... Pick this as the safe gift. Or you could just send a variety of hard sweets....

YES! I just read recently that there are a few organizations that collect stuff to mail to troops overseas and they have lists of things that are good/hold up in the heat etc, and things that are not. I also read that you should send liquids (like melted or about to melt chocolate) in a plastic bag. I think I tupperware container might work but it is really bulky.

Yes, it will. If you want to send some sweet stuff, send hard or non-chocolate candies (skittles and lifesavers are good options). It's really hot over there, so the chocolate will melt no matter what you send it in.

Very possibly it could melt depending upon what season it is in Iraq now (I have no idea). Better to send cookies instead.

at this time of year you can send chocolate and it wont melt, any faster than it would if you were shipping it here in the states. my husband was deployed in iraq at this time last year, and i sent him many bags of candy bars. everything made it there fine.

my husband is deployed right now and said not to send anything that would melt or perish, the time frame for delivery is very unreliable.

It won't melt if you send it now. It's pretty chilly there until around February.
