Blood from the back passage can be a serious symptom, but when it is slight and intermittent and is only present on wiping, then it is probably due to a small pile. This can otherwise be quite symptomless. Bleeding that would be a cause for concern, would be mixed with the motions, and would probably be accompanied by some mucus. There may also be some disturbance of the bowel actions, which would no longer be regular. If you can see the blood as a red colour, then it has not travelled far. Had it come from the stomach or intestinal tract it would likely present as a dark brown grainey substance resembling coffee grounds. However, it is better to be safe than sorry and most doctors would agree with this. Anyone with rectal bleeding should report it to their GP, who can check the facts and then usually do a simple examination to make sure there is nothing more to it. Then you can go on your way completely sure that there is no problem. So I advise you to remove all doubt by telling your GP about this and I am sure you will receive reassurance, and feel happier for it.
Hope this helps

you're probably not going to have doctor's on here but i do have some medical training...my first response would be to say call your pediatrician...second was his stool hard or soft, was the blood bright red or dark? the reason you need to clarify this is usually if someone is constipated when they finally do go it can actually scratch the inside of the lower colon or rectum and cause bloody streaks...nothing to worry about unless its a lot and doesn't stop bleeding. if the blood was dark red like it had been in the intestinal tract for a while then there maybe some concern its a stomach or large intestinal problem either way the best thing is to call his doctor....as there won't be any on here they are probably all busy treating patients at this hour.

Yes you need to be concerned. Anytime there is blood in the stool it needs to be checked out by a doc right away. Good Luck.
