They sure do. Though it's a fair bit less salty than the old standard. You'll find different names for it, though. Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast has become Country-Style Beef Gravy. You usually have the option of biscuits or toast (toast is authentic).

Are you talking about **** on a shingle. Possibly i know when my grandfather was in the army back in the late 40's early 50's they did because he gave to my dad some so my dad will occasionaly make it for my brother and i.

The last time I ate in the Army mess hall we had SOS, Sure went good with eggs and the other good food they had, It has been about a year since I ate chow in the mess hall.

SOS is part of the "Army Retiree Reduction Plan", feed your soldiers foods high in fat and thus they will die off in their 50-60's
and not use up their retirement pay. :-)
