The saying is from the "Wedding Crushers" so they are probably just trying to be funny.

It is an old fashion view society has. Back in the day, the only women who had any tattoo were "bad girls"; biker chicks, druggies and hookers. So people who still feel that way are just reflecting what their parents have taught them.

Now a days, tattoos are not only acceptable and non-trashy but are actually becoming the norm. Celebrities, Models and the everyday woman have some type of tattoo (myself included).

Tattoos are not longer a "rebel against society" symbol but more an artistic statement.

It would seem that the amount of women to comment on this post have a general Concurrence that it is not trashy to sport a, "tramp stamp". However, it would also seem that there is a definitive pattern of women/girls who have them. There is no logic behind tattoo's; inking ones self is usually an emotional symbol. Unfortunately, tramp stamps seem to be most utilized by women with low self-esteem in a subconscious (or councious) attempt at feeling sexy. Although there is nothing wrong with FEELING sexy, some might argue that being overly promiscuous indicates an abundance of sexual activity and/or poor life choices. Personally, I feel bad for women who have fallen victim to our society via media influence. I will agree that some men will find tramp stamps attractive, but the type of man is an arguable variable. "Men" who are interested in one night stands and frequent clubs are the most likely candidate in finding these types of tattoos attractive, although that's not ALWAYS the case.

Because almost everyone who has one there is a follower and can't think for themselves and they're all most likely tramps. I'm sorry to say this, but if you and a bunch of your girlfriends have them that the majority of you are tramps.

Also, there are plenty of people who say that any tattoo anywhere is trashy. Do you consider all women who have tattoos on one of their breast white trash? You probably do, you Hypacrite

I'm not talking about someone who has a lot of tattoos but just a couple and one of them are in those spots. If you have tattoos all over your back or front then there is nothing too special about one in those places. But if you have a tat in only one of those places and that is your claim to fame than you're most likely one or the other. It is true.

And tattoos are a fad. I remember back in the day you had to go out of your way to find a tottoo shop ar even just an artist and now there is a shop almost as random as a McDonald's, especially in FL. This will all end soon, especially with the negative conotations that you and other answerers above have mentioned. People are followers and once it is deemed trampy or trashy to get tattoos only a few will still do it.

Well, I can see how some people may believe that with the trend that it took through the 90's, however, there are some who got ours prior to the 'rush'. When I got my lower back tattoo done the tattooist told me it was only the second one that he ever done in that spot in his 23 year career! I do not consider myself trampy. It became trendy to get them there and for that I have no sympathy for those who now regret it..mine I will treasure always.

if you have a tat there, and you dress so that it can be seen by all, that is just pretty trampy. I think getting a tattoo would be a 'personalization' of yourself, therefore, why would you want to do what everyone else is doing? You can't see it! Who do you want to see it? And what do you want them to think? You must want people to notice or you wouldn't dress that way.

Because EVERY girl has one now because she thinks its sexy. Almost all girls when they get a tattoo get a tribal design on their lower back. Its the same thing over and over and every girl that has one thinks she's sexy and cute and wants to show it off, but really it's just a stamp, it says i couldn't be original or unique when I got a tattoo so I just did what everybody else did.
Might as well be a bar code for 'i can't think for myself, and I'm a tramp'

I have four tats and I will never get the tramp stamp. I worked in a strip club for aa couple years and every single stripper in there had one. It gets old fast.

The movie Wedding Crashers explains that the lower back tattoo might as well be a bullseye. This is the gospel according to Vince Vaughn, so it must be true.

It is a generalization that all women who have tats on their back side or on their breasts are easy and sleazy. A large percentage of those women do fit that catergory.

LOL, my boyfriend calls it that too. I think it's called that because some girls (not all, of course) who have them also dress very provacatively to show it off, and some boys call it a "target" for reasons that would be inappropriate to explain here. I guess it's just a matter of preference. Some guys find it sexy, some guys find it slutty. Same thing w/ body piercings, long hair, make up, etc.

Yeah, my boyfriend's dad calls them that. Because I guess everyone had one there, and then they got short tops, and low riding jeans and skirts and its just sticks out and makes the person look trampy. I'd perfer my tattoo to be on my wrist.
