The stall closest to the door is the best to use if you are concerned about bacteria. Not only do the fewest people use it, but the air circulation in the stall is usually the best (a product of being close to the door). The real danger areas in the rest room are the sink basin and then door handle. When washing your hands, avoid touching the sink basin and take a paper towel with you to open the door.

I think the first stall is the least used because it is so close to the sinks and the door. People naturally like to distance themselves from other people, for instance, if you you get on a bus and there is only one other person, and they are sitting in the front, you would head toward the back. Same with bathrooms. I know I always use the one farthest away. I do use the safety paper though...

It depends - if the bathroom is empty, it would probably be the first stall, since some folks might tend to bypass the first stall thinking it's the dirtiest. In a crowded restroom, all bets are off, since you really have to take whatever stall is next.

I think people do tend to go toward the last stalls so the one closest to the door is probably least used. Or the handicapped stall...

Its got to be the first stall. Because most people think its the one that's used a lot and avoids it. The middle stalls are used the most. Hope this helped.

I don't really have a preference. If there's an open stall I'll go for it unless it's not so clean. Plus, most of the time there are other people waiting for stalls so I can't exactly be choosy to which one I get.

I must say that I think this is a lose, lose deal; no matter what the stall MOST if not all public restrooms are nasty and full of germs. Regardless, of how they look or smell, just based off the mere fact that 100's of people with germs are coming in and out of them all day, daily.
You just have to roll the dice choosing one or try to hold it until you get home. : )

Well if everyone knew the least used bathroom, then wouldn't they all use that one?
The first stall is the least used, but also the one for handicapped people too. But don't tell everyone you know or else there's no point.

My understanding is that the first stall is the least used stall, so I often use that one. But perhaps a lot of people know that the first one is least used and they use it now.
If you're really worried, just use the toilet paper to cover the seat.

I read the statistic years ago that it's the first stall that gets used the least. However I tend to trust my judgement on a case by case basis, and take advantage of sanitary precautions provided.
