100yrs is basically what you get of life "if" everything goes exceptionally well health-wise for you. So basically all that time between death and birth you spend degenerating back into dirt. Even the most healthy among us deal with common ailments on a daily basis such as back pain, tooth ache, and etc..... People are dying every 12 seconds according to some statistics. Crime is rampant like never before in human history. Our jail cells are over-crowed. Mysterious illnesses with no cures are everywhere. War never ceases in our world. The silent killer, stress, is ruining everyone's health to some degree or another. Fear and hatred dictates people actions and responses to the world outside. How in the hell can any sane person say everything is fine. If you think your gonna continue to live in your "cave" and "drink and be merry", you are most pitiful of us all. The "end" is different from the world being bad. Our jails may be overcrowded in the United States, but not in many other industrialized countries. There has always been war, sorry. There has always been crime, sorry. Fear and hatred have always been two emotions to which people respond--look at the Crusades. Sorry about that too. There have always been "mysterious" illnesses (until science discovers what it is). Sorry. People have always been stressed. You think 100 years is short? Try living in the 1700s.
I don't think anyone is saying everything is fine. But we're humans, animals that exist within our limited capacity. Somehow concluding an "end" from humans acting like humans seems invalid without better premises. A tooth ache is no reason to say we're close to an end.
I'm saying "sorry" so much because it seems you're very emotional about the state of humanity. Face reality, humans aren't that great. I hope you feel better soon.

I woke up today and heard a bird singing, I looked outside and saw the beautiful sky, my dogs and my horses. Then I had the pleasure of waking my wife and son to the glorious day. The point is, if you go around looking for the bad, that is all you will see. If you take the time to see the good in this world and thank the Lord daily for what you have instead of curse for what you have not, it trully is a beautiful glorious world full of life and hapiness. Look for the best and you will find it. I don't live in the dark, I live in the light of God. I am not affraid of the "end". I will rejoice the day it arrives, however, i don't go looking for it either.
Take Care and may God bless you.

Out of the millions of years that life has existed on Earth, what makes our "100" years so special? We are a but a drop in the pond. Millions of years from now, people will be thinking that THEY are the choosen few to be alive in the "time of the end". And a few hundred million years after that, the moon will have left its orbit, all life this planet will be gone, and none of what you just said will even matter. Make the most of what you have because once you die, it's over.

I've never said everything in our society is fine--we have some serious issues to work out.
BUT!
That does not mean that some gigantic faery is preparing to zap people up into the clouds and then burn the rest of us. As our population increases, of COURSE we're going to have greater and different societal issues.

"The End" has been constantly predicted by Bible-believers since the time of Yeshua. 2000 years later, I'd think you all would have learned to keep your mouths shut. Besides, it says in that big book that no one knows the hour, and that it will come like a thief in the night.

Gosh, youre kinda naive, arent you.

As a proportion of the population, there is less random killing of people in 'street crimes' now then at any time in world history. Also, less disease, people live longer, healthier lives, more people are literate and educated than at ANY TIME previous, and for the first time in history there are DEMOCRACIES where the citizens actually get to choose their leaders. Do you have ANY IDEA what things were like between 10,000. years and 300 years ago? Any idea whatsoever??

No, apparently you dont.

< And in answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads YOU; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.
“For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. >> - Matthew 24:3-8.

"But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away." - 2Thimothy 3:1-5.

You sure got a negative outlook.

You must be a christian.

Ever thought that that negative world view theology they promote could be skewing your own personal world view and making things look a lot more bleak than they really are.

Can you see why we atheists think that believers in general are not that different from those in the various wacko cults? How many "Oh, how eager I am for the world to end!" types to we have to hear from?

Atheists value life instead.
