I believe my pregnancy book said that the genitalia are formed by around week 12, but the earlier they look for it on an ultrasound, the more room there is for error because it's not always easy to see, even if you can get a good angle to check it. I get ultrasounds at every appointment, and my doc didn't even look until week 20. If they look and give you answer, don't go out and start buying up everything you can in either pink or blue just yet, give it a while, you have time.

I went in for an ultrasound at 14 almost 15 weeks and was able to find out the sex. But they generally say wait so that they can be sure

I think there could be a possibility that they could tell you the sex of your baby on your next appointment. I believe they usually do the ultrasounds by the 16th week and they should be able to tell, if the circumstances are right.

I doubt you'll get a clear shot of the baby's nether regions that early. The earliest I've heard is around 17 weeks, but I didn't find out until I was 22 weeks. Best of luck to you!

They saw my son at 12 weeks. It was a boy so it was easy to tell. If they see something they may tell you the sex, but it may still be to soon to tell! Good luck!

In the meantime go to google.com type in "is it a boy or a girl" and its like the 5th link down its a chinese calendar and you put in your age and the month you concived and it tells you if its a boy or a girl. Its not 100% but it worked for me and a friend of mine. Its fun to do!

I think I found out about 20 wks with all three of mine, but then it depends on the baby and what position they're in when they do the ultrsound. Some you can't tell at all.

It is possible to tell that early but the earlier you are the less likely the nurse will be able to tell you without making an error.

I found out at 5 months. I am not quite sure if they can really tell the sex before then..Speak with your doctor, he should be able to tell you if it is possible or not.

with amnio you could tell now, but amnio's carry risks....
You should be able to tell, if you're lucky, with an ultrasound at 15-17 weeks. Easier obviously, if it's a boy (easier to see the penis than confirm its absence in a girl)
