Aside from the enormous cost of moving the Earth's population to Mars (either by "terraforming" Mars or sustaining a livable environment in some sort of sealed structures), Mars is an inhospitable planet for life due to one overarching reason: it lacks a magnetic field.

The Sun routinely bombards every planet in our solar system with deadly radioactive emissions, often known as "solar winds". The Earth's magnetic field shields us from the solar wind by establishing a magnetic forcefield around the planet. Visible proof of these deadly emissions and the shielding effect of the Earth's magnetism can be seen at extreme Northern and Southern latitudes, where people can see the famous "Northern (or Southern) Lights" in the sky most evenings. These natural light shows are solar particles reacting with our high atmosphere, after they've been deflected away from Earth by its magnetic field.

Mars has no magnetic field, and therefore anyone living on the surface would be exposed to the intense radiation of the Sun. Conventional shielding does not work, as even missions to space are planned to avoid periods of high solar wind activity. In fact, NASA has abandoned short-term plans for a manned mission to Mars almost exclusively due to the risk to a human crew from almost a year in space (the time it takes to get to Mars) being exposed to solar wind.

FYI, I recently watched a TV documentary theorizing that the lack of a magnetic field on Mars may be the primary reason why the planet is now lifeless (there is some evidence to suggest that Mars once hosted very simple life, bacteria, algae, possibly simple plants). Recent magnetic surveys by a Mars orbiter discovered evidence that Mars has faint remnants of a once powerful magnetic field. It is believed that these magnetic fields, like Earth's, come from the planet having a molten metal core. Unlike Earth, Mars' core has cooled to a solid mass.

U don't know what the problems. U think that CO2 is a pollutant it is not. It is the answer to our problem and u are doing all u can . STOP CO2 is the first step in the process that lets plants recycle our air . The plants need the CO2 as much as u need oxygen.

Do you think it might be because we're nearing the depletion of the earth's resouces, and our atmosphere is beyond being repairable?

Not instead, in addition to. We do not have to give up one to do the other.
