I don't really expect a Best Answer for this one because everyone has already covered it for the most part...
I only wanted to say that
- No there is no way to fix split ends
+ Yes they can be prevented
You should be going to your hair stylist ever three month for a trim to keep your locks fresh and clean :)
Make sure you're shampooing and conditioning your hair
And use anti breakage shampoo too help.
The only thing I wanted to add was that if you wanted to give yourself a quick hair fix is to take sections of your hair and twist them them until the ends of your hair stick out. Then, simply trim off the ends of the individual hair for a quick way to tame your split ends :)

Nothing will mend split ends. The less you get it cut the more you are allowing them to split further up the hair shaft. All heavy conditioners and hot oils do is mask the problem by putting a coat on the hair shaft and that's why after time they all need to be repeated cause it will eventually wash out.
Bite the bullet and get it cut, that is the only way to stop them from appearing. I know you are thinking it will never grow long that way but this is the only way

OK first you do need to get your hair trim ed. then after you do that before you wash your hair make sure you brush it out really good then when your done with the wash use a wide tooth comb when your hair is wet start from the bottom and work your way up. You can find some shampoos that help prevent split ends but they will always come back these steps just help to keep them away longer

You know my hair is really long and i don't cut my hair either. The best way to mend your hair is to use lots of conditioner when washing, use something like V05 and after about 2 months your split ends will be less noticeable. Avoid using anything that heats, stretches or curls your hair. Let it air dry and only comb it when it's completely dry. Don't wring it dry. After a couple of months of well care your hair will look beautiful again and you won't have to cut it. My hair is past my butt right now and it looks great and its not cut. If you have more question about healthy hair styles and products including shampoos, hairsprays and etc. Email me at marie_tta@yahoo.com and I'll answer any questions you have. Good luck

There is no other way, once they're split, there's nothing you can put on them that will make them magically fuse back together! But, one way to minimize the *appearence* of split ends is to do hot oil treatments or rub hot olive oil on the ends of your hair and leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then take a shower. Once you get out of the shower, Redken has a product called "Glass" that I love to use to make your hair shiny. You only have to use a very tiny bit or your hair will look oily. Rub together in your hands, and pat on your hair and then brush through.
My suggestion is to just go to a salon to get a trim, only take like a quarter of an inch off, while you're there, buy the Glass and a hot oil treatment, use the hot oil treatment, take a shower, and the glass can be used every day to make your hair look perfect and shiny. Straightening your hair can also temporarily reduce the appearence of split ends

You need to get your hair cut 1st. No matter what you put on it those split ends are going to magically fuse together with any kind of shampoo or hair product. Then try Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream. You put a dime size amount of product in your hair everyday and it makes soft and shiny. It's really great. It's kind of expensive but since you use so little everyday it will last for a long time.

You need to go to your beautician and get them trimmed really good. To keep your hair from having split ends you need to get your ends cut like clock work every 6 weeks. You also need to put a deep conditioner in your hair every week and sit up under the dryer for about 15-20 minutes. Both of these things will help your hair to be healthier and your split ends to stop splitting. I used to suffer from split ends, and I found a new beautician last year and she always makes sure she trims my hair every six weeks, and whenever I go to get my hair done she always puts me under the dryer with a deep conditioner in my hair. My hair is so healthy and I don't suffer with split ends anymore. Good luck!

There is know way to get rid of those bitches besides cutting your hair. Trust me i've tried everything. Go it a trim, and tell them how much you want off, don't let them cut off more. Your hair might be shorter than you want it but it will look better because it would be healthier

There's absolutely no way to get rid of split-end, the only way is to cut them off, all these products that claim to get rid of split ends do not work because it's not possible.
