This cat owner has a back garden three houses away from mine. His cat invariably calls into my garden in preference to other more close gardens to leave his stools. I have put up a plastic chicken wire one meter high atop of the dividing wall. After a month, the same cat tried to come into my garden again but apparently did not succeed to overcome the obstacle which it damaged however. Why does it persist to use my garden in preference to other gardens as his place where to leave his stools. A bit curious!

My mother-in-law just bought a house and ALL of the cats in the neighbourhood would always hang out there (she doesn't own any cats) We found out that they were using her garden as a littler box. I guess once one goes there, the next cat has the urge to cover the first scent with it's own and so on. My M-I-L didn't want to harm the cats but wanted them out. She went to a pet store and bought pheromone pellets (keyto I think). She sprinkled them in the garden (after changing most of the poop littered soil) and the cats have (for the most part) stayed away.

they may have put something in the soil to keep kitty out or your Garden is more inviting than the rest.

You could try a Squirt bottle with water in it and if you catch the neighbors cat you could give it a bit of a squirt. Or you could Trap it in a live trap and show it to your neighbor.

Or a more aggressive approach not for everyone but you could put up a electric fence around your garden or yard fence or both. after about 1 or 2 times kitty I promise you won't be back...

Getting the land surveyed would be the way to find out. But he sounds like a whackjob. The next question is - do you really want to escalate the situation for a measley three inches of land? Is that land really what's important to you? Or are you just trying to REALLY make him go ballistic? I would do my best to ignore him, and not ramp up the situation into an all out war. If he's crazy enough to tell you that you can't "touch the wall", and he's wiping bird droppings off with a tissue...if you force him to remove the fence, he sound like the type would would put out poisoned seed for the birds just to spite you, or pour gasoline on your favorite plants at night.

Do you have catnip growing in your garden? Maybe he's got lots of privacy to poo, that may be another reason. If you can get a dog, that would keep it out. Or, throw the cat turds back over the wall into your neighbors property. We have some ahole neighbors who let their dogs come and crap on our driveway, we take shovels and throw it on their walkway near their crappy trailer. That usually stops them for awhile. They suck.

PS: You could also get a really big super soaker (water gun) and spray the damn cat when you spot it in your garden. Cat feces is really disease ridden.

I live in the country so most people have out door cats. Can be a problem when they prefer your flower beds to use the bathroom. I use the red pepper cayeen pepper and it works wonders to keep them out. Just buy the genric bottle and sprinkle it around all of your flower beds around once a week. Worked wonders for me.

Now that he has marked his territory, he'll probably always come back to your garden. Theres' cat repelents you can buy at pet stores or you can just go talk to his owner. When people leave their cats outside, I don't think they realize just how much trouble they can cause, let alone what can happen to them.

It appears that the feline has adopted your yard as its toilet 'cause it's a nice place!

Here are things I have tried to dissuade the neighbourhood felines from using our yard as their portable potties...

-Chili sauce squirted along fence line or where they are pooping
-Rose bush cuttings on the ground
-juniper plant
-sprinkle black pepper where they are cyrrently poopling

Good luck with this one!
