This "Focus Factor" commercial is on a lot. They use the word "free" about a dozen times then at the end say you only pay $4.95 "to help cover the cost of shipping". Of course there's no way it costs more than a buck or two to ship a little bottle of pills.

Is anybody really stupid enough to pay $4.95 for this and think they got it for "free??

No, it is not. However, having done the e-bay thing, i definitely understand shipping and handling costs have to come from somewhere. If it is a $30.00 bottle with a $4.95 shipping and handling fee, it is worth paying the $4.95 to not have to pay for the product itself.

Whenever possible, buy local. That way you support local economy, and avoid shipping and handling fees.

Technically it is considered to be free.

What they are having you pay for is the shipping and handling. Yes, the shipping is probably only $2, so the other $3 is to pay for the labor of bottling it and packing it and shipping it to you.

Free is a relative term. Is life "free?" Breathing is free but sucking in bad air can kill. So there is a cost to "free" things already. The term "free" in marketing is always expected to have a catch. it just depends on the amount or the consequences.

No, because you are "paying" for the shipping. I was thinking about that too when i saw the commercial.

it depends on how they ship it... under a pound for us priorty mail is $4.05. The rest is prob a handling fee.

companies can really get you with that "shipping and handling" thing... often the "handling" part is what really costs you.

Sure are. I have seen stores put "sale" on items and sell the item for more than it can be purchased elsewhere. Greed get's a lot of us in trouble.

Free is free not any amount of money no matter how much. I even think postage and handling is a scam.
