LOL I don't think there's any particular reason to put a raisin on a cookie sheet unless you are making baked raisins. I think the asker is just asking that to get our little brains churning.....!

I have never heard of it but I am interested in the reasoning why. Have 3 year of Food science and it was never mentioned. I even tried to research this and can't find a reason for it. I think it is probably an old wives tale for telling when they are finished...

I have not heard of this before. I have heard about placing water in a pan and sitting the pan in it or spraying a mister into the oven during baking of bread to add moisture and to evenly cook.
Maybe it's to check to see if the dough is 'raisen' or not. HA Ha
