I bought my boyfriend a ring for Christmas. He's the kind of guy who has absolutely everything, which is why I decided on a piece of jewelry. I already bought him a bracelet a few months back, and he has plenty of chains, which is why I bought him a ring. We've been dating for 6 months, but have been friends a lot longer. He's already bought me several pieces of jewelry and always surprises me with them for no particular reason. My mother joked around saying he might think I'm proposing to him.

I think it is a great Idea sounds like you have known each for a long time and you know what he likes. If you give him jewelry all the time I doubt he would think it was a engagement ring.

Yes yor mother joked ,but don't think of it the wrong way to long it'll effect your thoughts on the gift you got him That was a good idea that you got him a ring but you should of asked him if he likes to wear rings most guys don't! he kind of sounds like it.Good luck.

I dont think a ring is to serious if you are really in love because remember most relationships are built on lust and you got to know if it is true love. Your mother may joke about that but as long as you both know it is just a gift dont worry about her parents always make comments about something

the best way to give a ring that is not meant to be a proposal gift is to tag appropriately...
- A gift for a special person
or on giving him the present tell him how much he is your best friend (he is supposed to be) and this is a symbol of how special that friendship is to you.
