How many times are you sopposed to feed a dog?

How many times are you supposed to feed a mediujm sized chow dog a day? Ho much are you supposed to feed a medium sized chow?

Actually dogs should only be fed once a day. If you feed them too much they begin to put on more weight than needed. Also make sure to give your dog exercise regularly. But whatever you do don't leave the food down on the ground for them to eat out of all day. Again it will give them more food than needed. Leave the food down for as long as you eat. During dinner if you eat for 30 minutes then only leave your dogs food down for that long.

The best way to tell is to pick the food you would like to feed him or her. On the back of the dog food bag will tell you exactly how much to give the dog per weight. We feed our dogs twice daily, morning and night. Evening feedings should be before 6 or 7 to avoid midnight messes. My best guess for a medium sized chow would be 1-2 cups per feeding. This will also have alot to do with how active your dog is. JUst feed and love him. If he starts to get fat lessen the amount if he is licking the bowl in the middle of the day up the amount.

How old is he? Puppies should be fed 3 times a day, and it's healthier for even grown dogs to have their meals split in two. Look on the package of the food to see the reccomended amount for your dog's weight, divide it into three parts and give him a third at breakfast, a third at lunch, a third at dinner. Also, you should get a book specific to Chow's, because certain breeds have certain requirements that might differ from other dogs (even dogs that are the same size). Also remember that dog food companies want you to buy as much dog food as possible and overfeed your dog, so don't necessarily trust the label! Double check what they say by finding info about your particular breed.

Also, some dogs you can put food out in the morning and leave it there all day, they will eat only when hungry.
